Culture tours to India with Wild About Travel

From Palitana Temples to Panoramic views of Jaipur - we can find a cultural tour to suit you

Explore India on a culture tour and see for yourself  the exquisite architecture of resplendent temples, forts, mausoleums and much more.

A guided tour of the Taj Mahal, India's most famous building, is an ideal way to mark a special occasion.  You could combine this with an extended tour of Rajasthan.  Panoramic views across Jaipur (often referred to as the Pink City) can be had from the Amber Fort with its impressive defence structures and highly decorated public and private apartments.

16th century Udaipur, known as Venice of the east and the city of lakes, is considered to be one of the most romantic cities in India.  See for yourself the fairytale palaces nestled on the banks of a lake.  Also, the famous Lake Palace Hotel, built in the middle of Lake Pichola - the famed location starred in the James Bond movie Octopussy.

You can experience the sights and sounds of bustling markets and rural Himalayan villages.  If you wish, we can help you plan your visit to coincide with one of many atmospheric religious festivals. Alternatively, enjoy the tranquility and scenic beauty of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries or relax the mind, body and soul with an Ayurvedic massage. Indeed, it is possible to combine many of these within a ten to 14 day itinerary.

Outside of Rajasthan, there is plenty more on offer for the discerning traveller.  Admire the scantily clad figures, domestic scenes and animals carved in stone with such staggering detail to make Khajuraho Temples just breathtakingly beautiful and quite rightly designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of 27 across India.  Marvel at the rock-cut temples of Elephanta Caves, dedicated to Lord Shiva and thought to have been created between 450 and 750 AD.  Visit Palitana Temples, 1300 of them, mostly at the summit of the Shatrunjaya hills, considered the most sacred pilgrimage place (tirtha) by the Jain community.  Only by climbing the steps to the very top can you fully appreciate the dedication required to create such a spectacle.

With enough cultural diversity to leave you wanting to visit India every holiday for a lifetime, the biggest question is where does one start?  This is where Wild About Travel can assist.
