Marvel at the rock-cut temples of Elephanta Caves, dedicated to Lord Shiva and thought to have been created between 450 and 750 AD. Visit Palitana Temples, 1300 of them, mostly at the summit of the Shatrunjaya hills, considered the most sacred pilgrimage place (tirtha) by the Jain community. Only by climbing the steps to the very top can you fully appreciate the dedication required to create such a spectacle.
